The S&P 500 is in its most perilous position since late last summer, cautioned David Keller, the chief market strategist at StockCharts.com. After an uptick in volatility in March 2023, the S&P 500 enjoyed a virtually uninterrupted rally before peaking on the final day of July. Related storiesIn the meantime, investors should keep a close eye on two key technical support levels for the S&P 500, Keller said: 5,050 and 4,820. Utilities are one of only two parts of the market that's up in the last month, due to its risk-off nature. The VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX) is another compelling way to ride that rally, Keller said.

In a job interview, your body language can make or break your chances of landing an offer. This means that, in a job interview, how you speak is just as important as what you say, says Bert Bean, CEO of the staffing firm Insight Global. Bean has interviewed hundreds of job applicants in his 19-year career as a recruiter-turned-CEO. Showing that you are energized and enthusiastic about a role is the top "green flag" hiring managers look for in a job interview, Shekhinah Bass, an executive at Goldman Sachs, told CNBC Make It in August. It's important to note, however, that body language isn't the only way to show your enthusiasm or engagement during a job interview.

The Taiwanese presidential candidate Lai Ching-te has for years been reviled by China’s Communist Party as a dangerous foe who, by its account, could drag the two sides into a war by pressing for full independence for his island democracy. Right up to Saturday, when millions of Taiwanese voted for their next president, an official Beijing news outlet warned that Mr. Lai could take Taiwan “on a path of no return.”Yet, despite China’s months of menacing warnings of a “war or peace” choice for Taiwan’s voters, Mr. Lai was victorious. Mr. Lai, currently Taiwan’s vice president, secured 40 percent of the votes in the election, giving his Democratic Progressive Party, or D.P.P., a third term in a row in the presidential office. No party has achieved more than two successive terms since Taiwan began holding direct, democratic elections for its president in 1996. gathering outside its headquarters in Taipei, thousands of supporters, many waving pink and green flags, cheered as Mr. Lai’s lead grew during the counting of the votes, which was displayed on a large screen on an outdoor stage.

To defeat terrorist groups like Hamas, it is important to separate the terrorists from the local population from which they emerge. Right now, we are witnessing not the separation of Hamas and the local population, but the growing integration of the two, with likely growing recruitment for Hamas. The only viable way to separate Hamas from the local population is politically. This could, over time, separate Hamas from the local population more and more, and so lead to significant success. This new strategic conception is the best way to defeat Hamas, secure Israel’s population and advance America’s interests in the region.

That these traits are neither here nor there only makes beige flags all the more confusing. She first heard of beige flags on X (formerly known as Twitter) in the context of “fannish discussions about what BTS members’ beige flags are, and beige flags for other K-pop bands,” she said. Beige flags and your dating profileFor Blaine Anderson, who runs a coaching website for heterosexual men called Dating By Blaine, strategizing with clients to eliminate beige flags from their conversations and dating profiles is essential to help them stand out in an enormous pool of suitors, particularly online. One of the most common beige flags on anyone’s dating profile is the line “I love to travel,” she said. Dig beyond labeling it a beige flagA little grace surrounding beige flags can go a long way.

However, higher-for-longer rates don't always crush valuations and earnings, Bank of America strategists recently noted. In fact, the firm found that the S&P 500 had a 15% total return per year from 1985 to 2005 with inflation-adjusted rates at 3.5%, which is far above today's 2% rate. "Historically, when the indicator has been here or lower, 12m forward S&P 500 returns were positive 95% of the time (vs. 81% overall) with a median return of 21%," Subramanian wrote. The Charlotte-based firm recently raised its year-end price target for the S&P 500 to 4,600, which implies 7.5% upside. The S&P 500 is top-heavy and expensive, which Bank of America thinks makes funds following the equal-weight version of the index more compelling.

The games official opening ceremony is on Saturday. They have barred women from most areas of public life such as parks, gyms and work and cracked down on media freedoms. They have banned girls from going to school beyond the sixth grade, and prohibited Afghan women from working at local and non-governmental organizations. Hiring recruiters are busy people, notoriously spending very little time on each resume they look at to decide if a candidate will move forward. "My advice would be, optimize a resume for 10-second viewership," says Nolan Church, who's worked in talent acquisition in companies like Google and DoorDash and who's currently the CEO of talent marketplace Continuum. That may be the only window recruiters ultimately allot. Here are three green flags that signal to Church that you're a good candidate. "My girlfriend's beige flag is that she physically cannot survive without having something sweet after a meal." Declarations like these have swarmed TikTok, with users identifying not a partner's red or a green flags, but a more nuanced "beige" one. Unlike red or green flags, beige flags don't prompt action. There is potential danger in beige flags, though, if you get too obsessed with them, DeAlto says. "Because you could turn a beige flag into a deal breaker."
